What are School Business Partnerships?
A school business partnership can be defined as a mutually supportive arrangement between a business, community organization or agency and a school or school district in which the partners commit themselves to specific goals and activities intended to benefit students and their achievement. While some partners make material or monetary contributions to a school or district, people resources are equally valuable. Partnerships may involve business employees or organization members as mentors, coaches or guest lecturers. In good partnerships, schools provide something to their partners in return; this may be intangible, such as good will, or tangible, such as school facilities or academic resources.
How can a school benefit from a business partnership?
- Increase in resources and services enhance the education of students
- Provide assistance to teachers and administrators
- Improve understanding of the business world
- Create real life, meaningful, learning situations
How can businesses be involved in the schools?
There are many ways to be involved in the schools. Here are a few examples:
