Attention 5th Grade Parents

Dear Fifth Grade Families,

Please see the following note from Erik Childers, Lakeview’s music teacher:

Dear 5th Grade Families,

I am excited to inform you that our 5th grade show this year will be HATS! The Musical. We have begun learning the music and dances for the show during class time at school. The students have been doing an amazing job working extremely hard to prepare their music. Last week, we had over 60 students from 5th grade audition for leading roles in the show which is an outstanding turnout for Lakeview. Unfortunately, there are only 33 lead roles for students. Mr. Childers, along with the 5th grade teachers, listened to all 60 auditions and made a decision based on a few qualities:

  1. Was the student prepared?
  2. Was the student comfortable performing in front of people?
  3. Was the student using appropriate stage voice?

If your child did not receive a lead role, every 5th grader will still participate in the show. We were blown away by the students’ talent, excitement, and preparedness in the auditions. They made us extremely proud, and it was a difficult decision to make.

We hope this letter clarifies how we made our decision to put students in a certain role. We are excited to present HATS! The Musical to Lakeview families on December 12, 2017! It is sure to be an amazing performance.

Best wishes,

Mr. Childers and the 5th grade team
