Principal’s Message for April 18, 2019

Lions,

We had a great week at Lakeview!  Our Musical Theater Club students presented the musical, Annie Jr.  A peak moment was watching the cast and crew put on an excellent production.  The show was truly awesome!  Congratulations to our students!

Field Day

Field Day is on Tuesday, June 4.  We need parent volunteers to make the day a success.  Please consider volunteering for a part of the day OR the entire day.  This is such a fun event for every student at Lakeview.  Please fill out the attached application and turn it into school.

Kruise into Keller – Incoming 6th Grade Student Night

Current sixth grade students who will be attending Keller in the fall are cordially invited to attend Welcome to Keller Night on Thursday, April 25, 2019, from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M.  On this night, students will have an opportunity to meet students from other feeder schools, listen to music, meet teachers, learn about upcoming opportunities at Keller, and enjoy a game or two in the gym.

There is no cost to attend this event. This event will be chaperoned by Keller staff and administration.  No current Keller students will attend, with the exception of our Keller student volunteers.  This night is only for our incoming 7th graders.  All transportation arrangements must be made in advance.  Students are expected to be picked up promptly at 7:30 P.M., and students cannot participate in this activity without signed permission. We look forward to meeting our newest Wildcats!

Attention 4th Grade Students and Parents

During April, information about enrolling for school band and orchestra is being distributed to 4th grade students.

Students interested in playing the trombone, trumpet, clarinet, flute, cello, viola, or violin should return the Enrollment Form to school, or turn it in at one of the enrollment meetings (listed below).

No previous music experience is necessary to play an instrument.

Parents and students should attend the meeting at the junior high the student will eventually attend, where more information will be available:

  • Addams Junior High – Monday, April 29 (7:00 pm)
  • Mead Junior High – Monday, April 29 (7:00 pm)
  • Eisenhower Junior High – Tuesday, April 30 (7:00 pm)
  • Keller Junior High – Tuesday, April 30 (7:00 pm)
  • Frost Junior High – Wednesday, May 1 (7:00 pm)

Band and orchestra lessons will start in September.

District 54 Summer Band and Orchestra

Registration for District 54’s Summer Band and Orchestra program has begun!  Students who have completed fifth, sixth, or seventh grade and have had lessons on their instrument in the District 54 instrumental music program for at least one school year are eligible to enroll.  Summer Band and Orchestra will take place July 8-25 (Mondays-Thursdays) at Addams Junior High School.  Registration forms are available from any instrumental music teacher or at sd54.org/resources/instrumental-music.  If you have questions, please contact the band/orchestra teacher at your school or call 847-357-5138.

Lou Malnati’s – May 1
The Foundation is partnering with Lou Malnati’s in Schaumburg to raise funds for students. Eat at or order from either of the Lou Malnati’s restaurants in Schaumburg on May 1, and 20% of total sales will be donated to the District 54 Education Foundation. Thank a Teacher

Are you looking for a unique gift to give your child’s teacher during Teacher Appreciation Week May 6-10?
