Lakeview Parents,

It is with much gratitude that we write this message. We are truly thankful for the amazing Lakeview students, staff and community.  On behalf of the entire Lakeview staff, we want to wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving break; enjoy the time off with your family.

The Lakeview PTA is still looking for more people to help reach their membership goal!!

If you’ve already signed up as a member or you’ve been a member before, you know how much every dollar counts when it comes to providing our students and families with fun opportunities.

Signing up as a PTA Member has zero requirements in terms of volunteering. By being a registered PTA Member, the National PTA offers discounts to places like AARP, Hertz, Office Depot, Quicken Loans, and more! Check out…/mar…/Save-Money-with-Member-Offers for more info on discounts available. The $7 not only supports the Lakeview PTA, but can save you money as well!

For every membership fee of $7, your Lakeview PTA only gets $2.50. Will you be a part of helping them get 100% of their membership goal for the 2020-2021 school year?

Continued Adaptive Pause to Hybrid Instruction

Per Superintendent DuRoss’ email on Friday, November 20, all students in District 54 will continue in full remote instruction.  While we had hoped to return to hybrid instruction on November 30, with the increased community transmission, District 54 will remain in full remote learning through winter break, with a possible return date of January 4.  We know the best place for students to learn is in the classroom with their teachers and we look forward to the day when we can safely welcome all staff and students back into our schools. Until then, we are committed to connecting, engaging, and supporting our students and families the best we can.

Optimistic Household Series

District 54 and Schaumburg Parent University have some very exciting news – we have launched Optimistic Household! This is a six-part series led by Shawn Achor, author of The Happiness Advantage and The Orange Frog.

During these unprecedented times, the social-emotional well being of our students is of utmost importance. By launching Optimistic Household, we aim to spark positivity, optimism and hope within our students and families.

Optimistic Household builds upon these principles, supporting the skills students need to be college and career ready, as well as engaged citizens. Skills that will help them become resilient and resourceful learners, who are able to adapt and demonstrate grit as they face academic and other challenges.

The neuroscience and data behind these principles reaffirm that students, who possess hope and optimism and embrace mistakes as part of the learning process, can become adaptable learners and succeed at higher levels both academically and personally. We are so pleased to be able to share this first-ever opportunity and important information with our community.

Please visit the Optimistic Household homepage on our website to view Shawn Achor’s introduction and for more information about the series.
