Lakeview PTA is hosting 2 Start Your Art Workshops
Lakeview Elementary PTA is once again participating in the Reflections program. This program gives students of all ages and abilities opportunities to express themselves thoughtfully and to receive positive recognition for their original artistic efforts. Category winners may advance to regional, state, and even national levels.
We are offering “Start Your Art” workshops for the Reflections program on both Tuesday, October 10th and Monday, October 16th from 3:00 – 4:00 pm (your child may attend 1 or both sessions). Your child does NOT need to attend a workshop in order to participate in the Reflections program!
These two free supervised after-school workshops are open to students who want to enter the contest. Students can bring works in progress or start from scratch with provided art supplies. We will help the students fill out the forms and understand the theme and rules. Students are allowed to bring a snack to eat during the workshops.
If you are interested in your child participating, please download and fill out the permission slip and return it to school as soon as possible.
The Reflections Program is here for the 2017-2018 school year!
Reflections is the National PTA Arts Program that asks students to GET CREATIVE!
The theme this year is……. Within Reach
Reflections project categories include:
Dance Choreography * Film Production
Literature * Music Composition
Photography * Visual Arts
Students can enter as many projects as they like, in as many categories as they like!
Just for Parents: This program is age based, and should be age appropriate. A student’s best work may include crooked lines or misspelled words. You may give them feedback—for example, showing them how to brainstorm ideas or suggesting that they proofread their pieces, but please be sure that their final effort is truly their own work of art.
So draw, paint, make a collage, write something, take a photo, compose a song, choreograph a dance, or produce a movie! All projects must reflect this year’s theme: Within Reach
Project Due Date: Friday, October 27th to the main office
Questions? Please contact: Carrie Emerick at firstname.lastname@example.org or 630-302-5432
Don’t forget- each project needs a separate Student Entry form! Also, it is very important to fill out the Artist Statement for each project.
